What to Watch on Streaming This Weekend

Here are some random films from multiple streaming services that are worth checking out this weekend if you’re looking for something new to watch or something old to watch again!

Netflix

Scott Pilgrim vs the World

If there is one movie that I could watch over and over again and never get tired of it, it very well may be Scott Pilgrim. With a killer soundtrack, perfect cast, and Edgar Wright’s wholly unique style, you might find some much needed respite from the cookie cutter superhero films we’ve gotten so used to watching.

Amazon Prime

Coherence

With a strong premise and 50,000 dollars, James Ward Byrkit (also a writer on the underrated Rango) crafts one of the most underknown and incredibly effective sci-fi thrillers in the past 20 years. It’s one rewarded by multiple watches, but even just one will make your head spin in the best way possible.

Hulu

Pig

The film that Nicolas Cage himself dubbed as his favorite of the films he’s been part of (which is over 100). Pig has an off-kilter cadence, mainly functioning as a drama but including moments of both suspense and innocent bliss that make you forget you’re watching Nic Cage chase after his stolen truffle pig. Check out the article we wrote about it here.

Disney Plus

Treasure Planet

Is this a top 10 Disney animated film? Yes. Why do I say that? Because it’s awesome. Don’t believe me? Guess you’ll just have to watch it. But before you do, make sure you bring tissues.

HBO Max

Memento

The film that inspired my love of visual storytelling. Christopher Nolan’s second film is arguably one of his best. A story that is told both backward and forwards puts us directly in the headspace of the character in a way many films have never come close to achieving. So grab yourself some popcorn and get your tattoo artist on speed dial, because it’s time to figure out, “Who is John G?”
